A bit of advice for the youth of America

The world can be a hypocritical, dishonest place. If someone is only telling you what you want to hear, then they are probably either lying or not giving you the whole truth as they know it.

Do exactly what you want to do with your life and follow your dreams, but be prepared to work very hard for it. Nothing worthwhile comes easily.

Create something- art, music, film, anything. Don't just be a consumer, be a creator.

Do not allow anyone to define abstract things like "freedom" or "love" for you. Evaluate these things for yourself.

No nation is worth fighting or dying for. People are people no matter where they're born. We cannot spread democracy to the world, especially not through military force, when we really don't have it in America.

Organized religion is a load of crap. Do not cling to one at the exclusion of all the others. Just take what you need from any (or none) of them if it helps you in life.

Our educational system needs an overhaul, yes, but please stay in school anyway. Without a good education, you allow big corporations and the military-industrial complex to do whatever they want to you.

There is no shame in being intelligent! Behind every successful revolution the world has known, there were great thinkers. Learning never ceases and knowledge can change the world.

If you do not agree with any of the above, or think that none of this is true, then I urge you to put my advice to the test. Prove me wrong. Any authority that does not like to be questioned is an authority that should not be trusted. You can either do, say, and think exactly what they want you to, or you can become your own person. The choice is yours.
